This is the pinnacle of close-up magic! Turn by US quarter into an English copper penny, right in your spectators hands as he or she watches! A great magical illusion you can carry anywhere because it fits in your pocket. It's totally mechanical, so you can learn to do this in one minute flat. No special skills are required. Be the hit of the party or business meeting with this one.
How It's Done The effect: you show a US quarter and a copper penny in your hand. You put them in your friend's hand, and always left is a quarter! The British copper penny disappears! What you need: this trick is completely mechanical. You need to buy a scotch & soda gimmicks coin, they're cheap. The secret: when you buy this trick, you get what appears to be a normal quarter and a tool called a bang right. Place the order in the bang rang, smack it on the table or countertop and the gimmicked coin splits in half! One half is the face of the quarter, but a towel inside! The other half looks like a British penny, but if you turn over its the reverse side of the quarter! After you have separated the quarter, put them in your pocket. When you're ready to do the trick, take the copper British penny out of your pocket put it in your hand, copper side up. Then take out the gimmick US quarter in place then your hand, face up, slightly overlapping the British penny. Once you've done this show them to your friend. Tell him or her to look at the two coins in your hand, the British penny in the US quarter. Tell your friend you are going to place the two coins in his hand. When you take the coins out of your hand with your thumb and index finger squeeze them together so they become just one coin. Your subject will never know! Place them in the power of his hand. Close his hand into a fist. Say a magic word. When he opens his hand, only the US quarter is there! If you want to add drama, get a real British penny. Put it in your other pocket. When your spectator wonders what happened to the British penny, pull it out of your pocket!
